Why Travel With Us?

Why Travel with Moonlight Nepal Trekking and Adventure Tours?

By booking a trip with us, your students will not only receive a wonderful educational and cultural experience in Nepal, but will also be contributing directly to the education of needy Nepalese children, who without the Moonlight School would be without an education. Your students will enjoy one of the most famous mountain trekking adventures in Asia. We have a 100% health and safety record and guarantee your students’ visit to Nepal will be filled with lifelong experiences and memories. ..

Socially-Oriented Business

Due to Nepal’s poor economic conditions, many children are denied their basic human right to access education.  Moonlight Nepal Trekking and Adventure Tours is a socially-oriented business and, since 2009, we have been providing free education to needy children living on the outskirts of Kathmandu.  60% of all our tour profits are donated directly to supporting the philanthropic work of the Moonlight School. By booking a trip with us you will not only have an amazing adventure in Nepal, but you will also be contributing directly to the education of underprivileged Nepalese children, who without the Moonlight school would be without an education.

Superb Safety Record

Ensuring our customers’ safety is imperative and, as such, all our guides and group leaders have completed the Wilderness First Aid Medical Course and have the extensive trekking experience required to respond to any potential issues which may arise.  The safety and comfort of our guests is our top priority, and you can be assured that our professional staff will take all medical and safety precautions necessary. Although this is rarely required, at any time during the trek our staff are able to arrange emergency helicopter transport off the mountain. To ensure your safety, we do request that our guests follow the expert advice of our staff at all times.

We have a 100% health and safety record and will ensure that your students’ visit to Nepal is one of the greatest memories of their lives.

24-Hour Support for Groups & Their Families

We have a 24-hour support number that parents may ring at any time during their child’s trip if there is an emergency.  Parents also receive contact details of where their child is each night

Best Price and Value

Quality services at the best prices make your adventures great value for money. Having all the essential items; meals, trekking, sightseeing and national park fees included in the trip cost allows you to better budget for your big adventure and eliminates the risk of having to carry large sums of money throughout your journey.
We believe in providing you the best value for your money. You will find our prices compare favourably to other trekking operators, including the many smaller operators you will find once you arrive in Nepal.  Price, however, is nothing without service, and that’s something we guarantee from the moment you arrive.

Porter Welfare

We could not get off the beaten track without them. On a trek, the entire group; travellers, guides and porters alike, are a team who share the same need for safety in the mountain environment. Our Porter Welfare Code of Conduct ensures safe working conditions for the mountain porters we employ in Nepal.

Trip Operations: Environmental Responsibility

  1. Ensuring our guests are well informed about the area and aware of the impact that they can have on the environment through pre-trip materials and education during their trip.
  2. Keeping our trips small to lighten our environmental and socio-cultural impact. In the case of large student groups, we endeavour to split them into smaller groups with their own guide to lessen visual and environmental impact
  3. Giving our guests the option of purchasing offsets for their air travel through our website.
  4. Using accommodation that is not wasteful of local resources or destructive to the environment. Some of our accommodations recycle grey water, use aerated taps, have a tree-planting program and used a significant amount of recycled materials in construction.
  5. Providing each guest with a reusable water bottle and drinking water so they may avoid buying disposable plastic drink bottles.
  6. Avoiding disposable items and goods that utilize excess packaging and encouraging our guests to do the same. Purchasing environmentally friendly products whenever possible.
  7. Forbidding the collecting of plants, including the picking of flowers.
  8. Finding the shortest routes to our destinations to reduce fuel consumption and avoid leaving our vehicles idling.
  9. Discouraging the purchase of souvenirs made from coral, ivory, rare animal hides, bones or shells.

Trip Operations: Social & Economic Responsibility

  1. Educating and training all staff on our sustainable policies.
  2. Choosing locally-owned accommodation, restaurants, and suppliers to provide direct economic benefit to the community.
  3. Hiring local people and provide them with appropriate training to ensure they understand and comply with our responsible tourism policy.
  4. Actively supporting cultural, social and environmental initiatives through financial contributions and direct participatory involvement.
  5. Purchasing produce at local farmer’s market whenever possible to reduce reliance on importation of international foods.
  6. Planning our trips in a way which maximizes the opportunity to meet local people and learn about the local culture
